I hope there is no special inserted with insf? Check it out with ioscan.

Re: IGNITE Backup Problem

Hi,

I suppose there are some dvices which do not have device file created. Try running insf command.

Re: IGNITE Backup Problem

What's the output of ioscan -fnC tape?

Is /dev/rmt/0mn in the output?
if not try using another device file or if you want try using insf.

Re: IGNITE Backup Problem

I recently had this problem when my LVM structure on my root disks were punked.

Does a vgdisplay for vg00 run OK?
Do you have a mirrored root disk?

In my example, I had a lvmtab that showed 2 root disks when I was only using one.

Make sure that your lvmtab (strings /etc/lvmtab) shows the correct amount of disks you are using.

Re: IGNITE Backup Problem

It maybe something as simple as the tape is write protected or it could be that the disk that the OS is loaded upon is not supported in this revision of Ignite.

What version of Ignite/UX are you using and what server are you using ?
