I intend backing up all my hp servers to a partition on the SAN using ignite. Then, I will take a tape backup of that partition from the SAN.

Re: Ignite backup
ignite-ux is the best way to backup hp-ux OS.
you may use make_tape_recovery -A command to take a tape backup.
ıf you install an ignite server than use make_net_recovery command.
regards,
mustafa

Re: Ignite backup
A tool better than ignite?
IMHO no, there is no better tool.
Configure one of your servers to be the ignite server, mount the SAN volume to store the images and use make_net_recovery to backup your servers.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

SolutionIgnite is a recovery tool, designed to get your machine back up and running after a "disaster". You use it to rebuild vg00. Once done, you can then use your normal backup software to restore your data, taking advantage of all the features your backup solution offers.
