Ignite backups causing network card problems..
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has ever come across this problem.. We recently did an Ignite backup on an HPUX 11.0 server, and a day later both of our servers kept crashing complaining of a network issue. They're totally separate i.e. not sharing disks or running in a cluster. The only similarity is that we ran Ignite on both. Turns out, replacing both network cards fixed the problem?? Wondering has anyone ever come across this before with Ignite and after effects??

Re: Ignite backups causing network card problems..
Mr. Stephen,
Never seen something like that before, and not ignite issues related to make hardware failed.
I would think about a physical issue, if both cards went down at the same time, probably power issue, both of the servers conneccted to a faulty UPS.
Something of that type, I am sure it was not related, you can always run a couple of new ignite backups and test nics, they should be fine afterworks.
Regards,
Jaime.

Work hard when the need comes out.

Re: Ignite backups causing network card problems..
Shalom,
Ignite make_net_recovery can use quite a bit of bandwidth. There are various issues with different versions. We have a 5.35 Ignite complex covering 11.00 and 11.11 and have absolutely no problems like this.
This could be a problem with network architecture.
The NIC cards may be a separate problem, but seem to be the likely cause. They do fail once in a while.
I can't see Ignite causing the problem, more likely it uncovers an existing problem.
