ignite - client instalation lanboot failed

Hi everyone

I am trying to install a client from an ignite server (the client is running but I need an upgrade now).
So I did the following:
- put the client in the same vlan of the ignite server
- add an entry in the bootptab for the client
- "Add New Client for Recovery" for my client in the ignite server

Then I booted the client and the INSTALLFS and INSTALL were copied, then the reboot was started and I went to EFI, when I make a lanboot the request arrives in the server and the IP I gave in the bootptab appears on teh screen ... everything looks beautiful...but then I get this error message:

PXE-E18: Timeout. Server did not respond.
Exit status code: Invalid Parameter

I went to the server and this is what I found in the syslog.log:

bootpd[18570]: client 10.228.92.111 requested unknown/unservable option.tag

Here's the bootps entry in my inetd.conf:

bootps dgram udp wait root /usr/lbin/bootpd bootpd -d 3

What could be the problem?
Does anyone knows?

Any help would be very welcome.
Thanks in advance,
R

Re: ignite - client instalation lanboot failed

I would prefer to use dbprofile from EFI - this prevents any DHCP related issues.

Hope this helps!

Re: ignite - client instalation lanboot failed

Shalom,

Make sure there are no other PXE servers on the network.

For IA-64 you can boot from subnet to subnet, no boot helper required.

Here is a procedure the first part of which is what you should be using.

You should on the Ignite server be able to use arp command to make sure there is connectivity from the LAN card you choose in the lanboot select and the Ignite server.
