ignite display problem

I run ignite remotely, and get the following messages, while xclock works fine. vt100 and vt220 are the terminal typed tried.

The DISPLAY environment variable may be incorrect, or, if you are
running ignite remotely, you may need to allow the remote system
to access your local X server by typing

/usr/bin/X11/xhost +lab005

on your local machine.

Do you want to proceed using the terminal version of ignite?

Re: ignite display problem

Hi,

Does the xclock work with an ip-adress or an host name ( lab005). It an be a resolwing issue.

Re: ignite display problem

So far as I can see, all the conditions are the same for xclock and ignite. But once I used ip address for the display, ignite worked.
The name and address are correct in both file and dns. The file content is used since it comes first.
I'd appreciate if you can further explain about this.

Re: ignite display problem

Hi,
When you do echo $DISPLAY
you'll see the IP address or the host name where the display is exported.
Export the display to thr IP address of the PC where you want GUI ignite to be displayed.
say the IP address of your PC is x.x.x.x
then
export DISPLAY=x.x.x.x:0.0

Re: ignite display problem

If you are remote, try text mode

remove display variable.

/opt/ignite/bin/ignite

That should work in terminal mode.

Otherwise as suggested, get the DISPLAY variable working right. That variable should include the ip or hostname of the workstation you are running X software from.
