Ignite errors

Hi all
I was adding a host to my new ignite server I just build with HPUX 11i. I, however, get the following message. "Could not determine if the IUX server supports archives for the HPUX release of the system "pse01" . Make_net_recovery may not work properly" .
Has anyone out there ever got this and if so, any fixes ?

Thanks

Re: Ignite errors

This could be triggered by host connect limits on the Ignite servers nfs share.

Take a look at the /etc/exports file and make sure the connecting host is authorized for login.

If not, add it to the line and:

exportfs -av

To re-export the shares with new permissons.

Re: Ignite errors

Hi Richard,

To support a version of HP-UX that is different than the one running on ignite server you need to have the corresponding version ignite ux filesets installed on the ignite server.

Take a look at this thread,

http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90837/B2355-90837_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90837/00/00/21-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B2355-90837/00/00/21-toc.html&searchterms=support%7cversion&queryid=20041020-110625

Refer to the section "Using the Ignite-UX server to support network recovery for clients".

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Here is the ignite ux admin doc for 11i

Re: Ignite errors

Your server must have the right version of Ignite installed to support the os of the clients.

Look at http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

"From a single server running HP-UX 11.00 or 11i and Ignite-UX B.x3.4 (or later) you can install HP-UX 11.00, 11i v1 (B.11.11), v1.6 (B.11.22), or v2 (B.11.23) onto your client systems. "

What os and Ignite version is the server?
What os version is the client?
Please be more specific than 11i as this can refer to a number of 11i versions.

Re: Ignite errors

All
I am currently running HPUX B.11.11 on the Server end. Also I installed the latest release ( I think ) if ignite B.5.4.50 on this server.
For the client hosts, they are all varied with different Os ( from 10.20 to 11.0). Either way, I dont seem to be able to add any one system to my ignite gui server.

Re: Ignite errors

When you do "Add new client for recovery" ignite tries to remsh to the client to gather information and setup the per-client directory /var/opt/ignite/clients/ .

If the remsh succeeded there should be a
host.info file in
/var/opt/ignite/clients/pse01 (from you example)

that contains the current OS release of the client. If it does not, or if the value is not of the form "B.[[:digit:]]*" then you will get the message you indicated.

You can run /opt/ignite/add_new_client if you'd like to try this outside of the gui.

Re: Ignite errors

Hi Richard,

Take an output of "swlist -l fileset IGNITEUXB" and paste it for us to look at.

Hope this helps.

Re: Ignite errors

Michael
Yes I do get a directory created in /var/opt/ignite/clients ( e.g /var/opt/ignite/clients/pse01), but it is not like this one
lrwxr-xr-x 1 bin bin 14 Oct 20 12:29 pse11 -> 0x000F202B9467, as an example. Once that directory exists, the icon never appears on the gui, although ignite tells me that node has been added sucessfully. The second time I try to add it again, it says that that host exists. I have to remove the directory and same thing all over again.

Re: Ignite errors

Sanjay,
This is what I got.
#swlist -l fileset IGNITEUXB
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "pse08"...
ERROR: Software "IGNITEUXB" was not found on host "pse08:/". Does this mean anything ?

Re: Ignite errors

How about:
# swlist -l product |grep Ignite

Re: Ignite errors

Hi,

Do this on the node you are trying to add to ignite server, in this case "pse01"

swlist -l fileset |grep -i ignite

you should have some minimal ignite filesets installed on the ignite client.

I was hoping you would run the command suggested in my previous post on the ignite server and not the ignite client.

Also check and see if "tftp" service is enabled on the client. when you try to add the client through GUI and you have the required minimum filesets installed on the client, ignite server uses this service to check on the clinet version. This service can be later disabled on the client, but should run on the ignite server (if i remember correctly).

Hope this helps.

And yes tftp is enabled on the hosts and the server. It is enabled for Ignite.

Re: Ignite errors

Hi,

One more thing. This whole setup is local lan and there is no firewall / DMZ seperating the server and the client.

Hope this helps.

Re: Ignite errors

Sanjay,
Yes there is no firewall. And for your information, I have an older Ignite server running HPUX 11.0 and so far it works fine. All I am doing now is decomissioning it with a new server.

Re: Ignite errors

Hi,

Can you check tftp entry on the client. It should look something like this,

tftp dgram udp wait root /usr/lbin/tftpd tftpd /opt/ignite /var/opt/ignite

Also, are you able to add other clients to this ignite server.

Hope this helps.

Re: Ignite errors

Richard,

From what I'm seeing, you have different versions of Ignite running on the server and client. Either upgrade Ignite on the client to match the server version or swremove Ignite from the client and try creating the image from the server once again. If the Ignite server doesn't see Ignite installed on the client, it will prompt you to allow a minimal install of the filesets required to create the archive.

Hope this helps,
Eric

Re: Ignite errors

Hi all

Since I raised this issue, it is still not solved. I have examined the inetd.conf file from all angles, but nothing. Did anyone come up with any ideas ?

Re: Ignite errors

On the client what does /var/adm/inetd.sec look like?

And make sure that the tftp entry in /etc/inetd.conf is not commented out.
