Ignite forcing a switch to network source?

I'm trying to take an ignite from one 11.11 system, and use it to create another system on matching hardware. I'm running the ignite on the source system with the following parameters.

make_tape_recovery -vI -x inc_entire=vg00 -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Should be straight forward. But when I pop it in, and boot off tape,
skip the IPL, wait a while for it to load, then a bunch of messages scroll by (which I have not been able to capture) before I see:

* Scanning system for IO devices:
* Querying disk device: 0/1/1/0.1.0
* Querying disk device: 0/1/1/1.0.0
Would you like to switch source to network? ([y]/n)

If I choose yes, I get into the sam-like menu, but fail because we have no network depot. If I choose not, the system reboots. Within that initial menu, where it has a table of various hardware components, it shows everything but the tape drive. However, the tape drive is obviously working, since the system boots off the tape initially.

I've attached the recovery.log created when I made the ignite tape. I don't see any problems there, but thought I'd provide it just in case. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Ignite forcing a switch to network source?

Strange.

I would first check the tape drive and cable.

i have seen in the past that a bent pin (2 pins in 1 hole) cause the system to be able to access the drive from firmware level (boot), but not from driver level once the kernel was booted.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

If the tape drive is good, I would recommend to upgrade to the newer version.

Re: Ignite forcing a switch to network source?

Cable looks fine. I'm going to try using the same tape drive that the ignite tape was made on to do the install, but in the meantime, any other ideas for things to check?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Ignite forcing a switch to network source?

I tried several different things on this last try to reignite the box, and finally got it to work. I normally wouldn't stack changes, so I know what fixed it, but I was approaching a deadline. Thanks for the input - it gave me additional things to look at.
