ignite restore

Hi. We successfully made an image of our NNM server using make_net_recovery. We would like to restore the server with the archive created. However, we do not want to restore it across the network. We ftp'd the archive file (2006-05-31,10:53) to the NNM server to be restored. Is it possible to restore the system with the restore file (2006-05-31,10:53) being housed on the local machine? If so what is the command?

Regards.

Re: ignite restore

Hi,

This is not possible.
The archive file must be located on another server.

Re: ignite restore

with it being on another server, what would the command be to do the restore?

we currently have it stored on our ovo managment server /arc/sys_backups/ directory

Re: ignite restore

The system cannot be source and target at the same time. You can create a tape or DVD to use it locally.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: ignite restore

Hi. Thanks for the response. Do you know what the command would be if we burned the image onto a CD or DVD and inserted the DVD into the server we want to restore?

Re: ignite restore

See this document (or even better http://docs.hp.com/en/IUX ) for how to create a CD/DVD from a stored image.

Hope this helps!

Re: ignite restore

I didn't find it instantaneously before, but Anthony was posting the appropriate link for "how to create the DVD:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90970/ch08s04.html

in his thread http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1032940

Hope this helps!
