ignite ux issue
We have a problem with a root disk which means we are effectively having to re-build the server. We have stale extents and trust me we have no other option. We have had the disk replaced and HP have said its a rebuild we need.
Anyway this would be easy if I could take an ignite image of the server. Altho we still may have the same issue when we restore from it. Anyway the problem we have is we can't take an image as it runs a hardware scan at the start which just hangs due to the disk issue. Specifically if you try to do an insf on the platform it just hangs forever. Is there a way of disabling the hardware check at the start of the network image creation.
Thanks

Re: ignite ux issue
you can't skip the hardware check before boot - or only HP knows how to. But I never heard about this possiblity.
I would set up the new disk and then try the old one as a second disk and try to read the datas.
But when a fsck doesn't run ok then it's time for your last backup (you surely have(?)).

Re: ignite ux issue
is it an internal disk or an external one? If the latter which kind of storage do you have?
Best regards,
Fabio

Re: ignite ux issue
do you have a similar server, where you can create an ignite image from?
Creation of an ignite image is also a worst case solution you have to do before hardware is going down.
But I can't imagine that the mirrored disk has the same (hardware) problem.
Have you tried to disassemble the defect disk?

Re: ignite ux issue
We succeed to replace both disk mirrored with ignite.
How we do:
Split mirror disk
Replace one disk
Recreate disk mirroring with new disk.
Stop system and extract old disk.
Restart system with new disk but system have old LVM information and only partial is useful.
Make ignite image
Reboot server and boot from ignite server and restore last backup.
Now we can have a system like the old system.
I hope this is helpful.
