Ignite-UX oops

While re-installing a HP 11i system, I accidently selected install from the ignite server instead of set up new client. Now the box is on the ignite-ux screen where you select if you want to install or a couple of other options. This is not what I meant to do. How do I back out of it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Re: Ignite-UX oops

How about finding the process, kill it and start over again.

Re: Ignite-UX oops

I do not remember if there is any tab to bo back, but Just reboot the client and restart. that should definitely work...

Re: Ignite-UX oops

Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with ingite to do that. The system rebooted, and comes up to a screen with the options to install hpux, run a recovery shell, and advanced. If I go into a shell, I cannot use ps. I stopped the install from the server, but it did not reset the client to how it was before. I tried gong into receovery script and selecting recover from an unbootable hpux system. Now it doesn't see some of the file systems and doesn't boot all the way up.

Re: Ignite-UX oops

Simple.

Walk to machine.

Stick Core OS CD in the CD drive.

Turn off power.

You can't hurt the disk because there is nothing on it.

Restart your install of the Core OS CD.

You also might want to learn how to set up that Ignite server so it can actually serve up the OS. Its nice to have that kind of tool around.

Re: Ignite-UX oops

Okay, If you are just trying to re-install the 11i, lets back up and do following:

01. turn off and turn on the machine, boot from CD,

It will eventually give you a menu, select "Intstall HPUX"

It will load a user interface and then give another screen, select "ADvanced intstallation" It will give you another menu,
( Selectable by tab), there you can select many things including system name, IP , disk details, filesystems details and softwares to be installed.

After everything is selected as you need, go to "GO" and hit enter, confirm nad proceed....

hope this helps...

Re: Ignite-UX oops

What happened is this.

The system was being rebuild for a different project. The ignite image on the server was of the old server. I had finished rebuilding it, and needed to set it up as a new client on the ignite server. During a brainfart, I clicked install on the ignite server instead of removing it as a client and setting it up again. I am looking for some way to back that out without reinstalling the server again. I am not sure it can be done, though, and am planning on starting from scratch again on Monday morning. Thanks for all your help.
