Ignite-ux Server installation

Hi Gurus...

I have a group of servers with the mentioned

Ignite-ux clients installed .

B.3.6.83 - 4 Servers
C.6.2.241 - 2 Servers

I am planning to make this setup in a Ignite-ux Server - client way for easy recovery in case of any crash.

Can anybody suggest me a good suggestion , where I can implement this.

My concern is ,

1. Which server can be used as Ignite-ux Server ?
2. Do I need to keep the same version of the Ignite-ux on all the Servers ( Including the Ignite-ux Server ) ? If so , how can I put it
as per the version information given aboce..

If you believe , that the information provided in the thread is less.. , then pls reply to this thread , so that I can provide it later...

I would suggest to use C.6.2.241 as the Ignite server as it appears to be a newer version however the latest version is C.7.6.100.

My assumption is yes you need to have the same version of Ignite UX on all the servers... But I am not really sure.. I will wait and see what my gurus here will say..

Hi,

B.3.6.83 - 4 Servers
=> This looks to be 11.0 clients

C.6.2.241 - 2 Servers
=> This version of ignite UX can support 11.0,11.11 and 11.23 clients.

So you can have C.6.2.241 version ignite server and installed with below depot in order to support all 3 version client

Ignite-UX-11-11 C.6.2.241 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.11 Systems
Ignite-UX-11-23 C.6.2.241 HP-UX Installation Utilities for Installing 11.23 Systems

Once you have these 3 client support on ignite server you will need to update client version to 6.2.241 as make_net_recovery fron lower version of client will fail (both ignite and client should be on same version to perform make_net_recovey archive creation.

you can update your client using below procedure

ftp add_new_client from ignite server to /opt/ignite/bin/ on client and execute it on client

#/opt/ignite/bin/add_new_client -s ignite server

6.2.241 doesn't support 10.2 clients , if you have any 10.2 client then you will need one more ignite server running old version of ignite just to support 10.2 clients

C.6.2.241.

Hi,

this is an old version IMHO from time around 2005. I would suggest to use a current version.

Hi,

From my experience on ignite upgrade, it is always preferred to remove the older version before installing the latest one. If you install new version without removing older then you will end up conflict issue later on.

Can anyone tell me , where I can get the
B5725AA C.6.2.241 Ignite-ux software ? ( I believe the only Ignite-ux s/w which supports
11.00 is C.6.2.241 only..., If I am not wrong.
