Ignite + VLS

Is there possible the usage of ignite on VSL, is there ignite support for it ?

If so, can you please provide me with some documentation about it.

Thank you!!

Regards,

Marco

Re: Ignite + VLS

Tell me more about VSL or is it VLS?

Re: Ignite + VLS

I'm talking about "HP StorageWorks Virtual Library System (VLS)" , so .. I think that if I can boot from it I could use it using Ignite too, but apparently I cannot boot from it, I need to make some additional tests but apparently it does not support boot from it.

Re: Ignite + VLS

The docs claim that they emulate a tape device, but boot-ability from it is key for Ignite usefulness.

Most of the software their docs recommend are high-end backup applications, such as DataProtector.

I would recommend asking an HP rep directly about Ignite testing support with your unit. Looks like they may have not considered this.

Re: Ignite + VLS

Neither HP9000 PDC or HP Integrity EFI support boot from a FC tape, so not possible.

Re: Ignite + VLS

Fibre 'tape' device. Duncan is correct.

Direct boot to Fibre Channel is not supported, so the "two-step" media recovery is one way to get there. See doc here:
