Ignite
I have a server rp7405 with an internal unit of tape and have a server rp2405 which I need to make ignite. As I can share the tape unit so that to be able to use it in the other server.

Jose

Re: Ignite
No, you can't. Ignite does NOT support creating a tape on a remote tape drive.
What you can do is use make_net_recovery to create an archive of the rp2405 via the network to the rp7405. There is a procedure you can then go through to create a tape from the network archive.
The steps required are outlined in /opt/ignite/share/doc/makenetrec.txt in the "Create a Bootable Archive Tape" section.
The makenetrec.txt will also tell you how to use make_net_recovery to create an archive of a system via the network.

Re: Ignite
Hi Jose,
I think you are asking if you can make a ignite recovery tape for a server using the tape drive on a different server, then the answer is that you probably cannot. The tape drive has to be local to the system on which this archive is going to be created.
Hope this helps.
