Ignite download site:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/download.html
Ignite make_tape_recovery command I use:
# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -a /dev/rmt/?mn -I -v -m tar -x inc_entire=vg00
Where the /dev/rmt/?mn is the appropriate tape drive for your machine.

Re: ignite
This is now the ultimate Ignite thread.
I have one further recommendation. Ignite is very complex, very powerful and can do many things.
Long term, think about:
Ignite Golden Images for system migration and replication
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90893/ch05.html
I have used this in 3 machine shops.
Making images to a network ignite server
http://docs.hp.com/en/5990-6728/ch04s05.html
Creating an installation DVD on a DVD-RW
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90893/ch08s04.html
I recommend education

Re: ignite
The software mentioned in above links is in depot format and can be installed using swinstall.
After loading swinstall you can create tape, CD/DVD or network server.
