Increase Distributed Volume Group Size

I have a Volume Group that I need to add space to and it tells me that I need to undistribute it first. These are two new systems running 11.0 and MC/Service Guard. I am new to mcsg so I have not come across this yet. Can anyone tell me what I need to do?

Re: Increase Distributed Volume Group Size

Hi Damon:

I'm not exactly clear as to what you want to do, and/or the specific error you are encountering. MC/ServiceGuard adds a few steps to LVM maintenance. Have a look at Technical Knowledge Base document #UXSGLVKBAN00000002 for adding disks to a volume group in an MCSG environment. Look at document #UXSGLVKBAN00000013 for increasing the size of a logical volume and #UXSGLVKBAN00000008 for adding a new logical volume. Does this help?

Regards!

Re: Increase Distributed Volume Group Size

If you're using SAM to do this, then you should be able to "undistribute" using SAM too, before you increase your VG.
Goto Disks and FileSystems->Volume Groups. Goto Actions menu and select "undustribute".

Check online doc "Managing MC/ServiceGuard", click on left hand bar "Building HA Cluster Configuration" and "Creating a Storage Infrastructure with LVM".

Re: Increase Distributed Volume Group Size

It sounds like I need to deactivate the volume group, and undistribute it. I would then be able to add space to it and then extend my logical volume. Then I could redistribute it to my other node. It sounds like I need to do a little reading and then I will give it a try and
let you know how it turns out.
