Informix hostname resolution
Hi, we've had a little problems show up this morning. Our operators have been trying to run the logical log backups this morning, and were presented with this error:
Server is in an incompatible state or user authentication failed
I've checked the online.log, and I'm getting a lot of these:
11:00:06 listener-thread: err = -956: oserr = 0: errstr = (informix@ad90c63): Client host or user (informix@ad90c63) is not trusted by the server.
The hostname ad90c63 is nonsense. How does informix resolve this name? I sort this pretty quickly or the logs will fill up.
PS I'm no DBA, so be gentle if you're talking informix 'speak' ;o)

Re: Informix hostname resolution
Found the problem, it seems that after a reboot the system enabled a previously disabled NIC.

Re: Informix hostname resolution
Hi Robin,
it is not good that system enabled an old NIC.
Check /etc/rc.config.d/netconf for all lan cards configured and /etc/hosts.
Best regards,
Ettore

Re: Informix hostname resolution
Yep, for some reason the second NIC was in the netconf file. So I've commented it out, and removed the device file.
