Re: ingreslock
Hi Carmen,
Just going by the name ingreslock, it sounds like it is some sort of lock mechanism associated with an Ingres database. Do you run Ingres?

Re: ingreslock
Hi,
No.... we don't have ingres.
This service is an all the HP-UX system that we have.... I think it comes by default with the system.
#more /etc/services |grep -i ingres
ingreslock 1524/tcp

Re: ingreslock
Hi Carme
If you run netstat -na and port 1524/tcp is not in a listenining/connected state then Yes you can use it.
The convention is though ...
The Well Known Ports are those from 0 through 1023. ( Privelaged program/daemon use only )
The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151. ( in /etc/services )
The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535 ( General use )
So you can use it if you want to just remember that if you get ingres apps maybe you might have a bit of a hickup.
