inittab tty and a: difference ?

I have a puzzle in inittab file type, specifically the tty0p1, ups port. Originally it is tty, after recreating it, it becomes a:...

What is the difference then? Enclosed please find some line of inittab and please help:

------------
# ups0::respawn:rtprio 0 /usr/lbin/ups_mond -f /etc/ups_conf
APCd:0123456:wait:/etc/rc.APCupsd start #ttp1:234:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty -h tty0p1 9600
a2:3:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty -h tty0p1 9600
-----------------------

Thanks,

Steven

Hi Steven !
If i got you right, an entry in in /etc/inittab file has the following meaning

id:rstate:action:process

Where the first (What you are talking about ) is just a unique id. You have to ensure that this field is unique for all the entries in the /etc/inittab file.
