Re: Install Problems

Hi Tim,

Are you doing a cold install or an upgrade?

when are you seeing these errors?

The thread Sanjay mentioned is talking about the ignite but is the date on your system ok?

Ramesh:

This is a cold install - OS is installed, but I don't know any passwords, etc.

Is there a way to check or change the date before installing the OS?

Thanks

Re: Install Problems

Hi Tim,

If you are doing a cold install, you don't need to know any passwords nor change the date, because during a cold install, you boot off of the Core-OS CD and install the OS and during this process, it overwrites EVERYTHING on your root disk.

How were you trying to install the OS?

Re: Install Problems

Hi Tim,

I believe if you doing an interactive install, you get to see the current time and date and modify the same. This should be in the NEtowrk configuration setup i think, the section where you define the server name and ip address. This is the third section where you det the different parameters during the installation procedure.

Thanks

Re: Install Problems

I had this problem a bit ago with an old HPPA like you're using, the cause is that the little battery on the motherboard is dead, so the clock is way off: check the date in boot_admin and you'll probably see 2038. Set the date properly before you boot and it will install properly. I have not seen the old boot_admin prompt recently so I can't give more details.
