install vpar

I has been installed Oracle Database into rx6600, right now if I want to install vpar into that server to assign 2 or 3 virtual partition , may I know the database got any impact ? or just install the vpar software then assign the vpar directly ?

You cannot install vPars on this server - not supported.


Consider to use HPVM.

That is right.

Only Virtual Machines (IVM - Integrity Virtual Machines) is supported. Better than vPars in that it requiers no dedicated IO/Bus (FC/SCSI HBA or NIC) and one can allocate fractions of a CPU core.

just install the vpar software then assign the vpar directly ?
==> The above mentioned server is not vpar compatible. YOu need a cell based server for that. ( I am forgetting L/N class now).


May I know the database got any impact ?
==>There will not be any Impact on Database if you configure it on Vpars.

==> If you really need 2 -3 OS instances , you may kindly go for HP Integrity Virtual Machines.

Please note that , in IVM there is no direct i/o access; you wil see performance degradation compare to NPar/Vpars
