You do not have the required permissions to perform this SD operation. Please check to see that you have the required permissions using the "swacl" command or see your system administrator for assistance.
I am executing this as 'root', and after poking around in the swacl command a bit, can't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to execute the command as entered.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yesterday, this question came up - a couple of things - do a search for ACL for future reference.
Essentially, you will have to stop and start swagentd and try again.
/sbin/init.d/swagentd stop ; /sbin/init.d/swagentd start
to get you started :

Just check if the patches which you are installing need autoreboot=true option. In that case after installing patch the system will reboot. If you are installing such patch without autoreboot=true option. system will not allow you to install the patch. Also check for Warnings in the log file.
