Inter net printing
Hi Gurus
I have an rp7410 server with Oracle ERP 11.5.10 installed. We want users to access the erp from any where and to do printing. .
>Eg : suppose the Datacenter is in Amsterdam running Oracle ERP. we have an office in the UK and the user is accessing the erp from UK over the ineternet.
>A report is generated and it is required to be printed on the printer that is in users office in UK .
Scenario 2. The user has logged in to the erp from an internet cafe and he wants to print on the printer in the internet cafe.
->How can this be done.
Thanking you
Faizer

Re: Inter net printing
There are so many variable when printing to a remote location that this is a difficult problem, but here is some possiblities. Have the reports generated as PDF's then put on a web server for transfer and printing. This fits the internet cafe the best.
If you have an office with a stable location and server you can just add the remote printer to the local print queue on the rp7410. Firewall's and document security are the big problems here.
There are some Jetdirect print servers that will take jobs via FTP or HTTP. This is still better for the office scenario.
Another solution that might be the best for both and can be secured is generate the PDF and EMAIL them to the logged in user. You could encrypt the email for security. I think I like this last one the best.
The only othere thing that might help to know is how they are logging into the ERP. Is it web based, SSH, or Client based?

Re: Inter net printing
They would be logging in through the WEB. as the Oracle ERP is web based.
The remote sites would not not have any hp servers other than their own local networks.
Thanks
