ioscan

Hi,
I'm running HP-UX 11.23 with all the updated patches on an rx2600. when I run ioscan it takes a long time, after the ioscan completes all devices are claimed. I have connected this server to an MSA1500. Without connecting MSA also ioscan taking around 4-5 minute to execute

thanks

Re: ioscan

Hi,

How are you connecting MSA to your hp-box ?

Also are you facing this issue only after connecting MSA box or even before...

What is difference in time when you run ioscan with or without -k

Re: ioscan

Hi,

I have connected MSA to HPUX through SAN swith(FC). I am facing this problem before connecting the MSA also. -k gives quick out put without -k it takes arround 3-4 min to give O/P

Re: ioscan

So what else do you have attached to the FC switch, and have you zoned the switch so the HP-UX ports are in their own zone?

Re: ioscan

Shalom,

There could be a failing device on hardware path or unterminated scsi card/device.

Take a look at the output you get for issues.

Re: ioscan

If you remove the FC cable(s) from the back of the rx2600 and re-run the ioscan does the problem go away? That should confirm that this is a fibre channel/SAN problem rather than some other failing component.
