Re: Is there a 'vmware' similiar function in hpux?
Yes... its called paritioning and is currebtly only available for the larger servers - it breaks down like this:
If you have a PA-RISC server (rp7410, rp7420, rp8420 or Superdome) then you can use either hard partitioning (nPars) which provides electrical isolation, or soft partitioning (vPars) which is software based and more flexible.
If you have a IA64 (Itanium) server (rx7620, rx8620 or Superdome) then you can currently only use hard partitioning (nPars). Soft partitioning (vPars) for Itanium servers should be available in the next few months.
If you want something *just like* VMWare, then at the back-end of this year you will be able to get a product for the Itanium based HP servers called "Integrity Virtual Machines".
