ixProFTPD ftp Connection Issue

We have an older server that is using an ftp product called: NcFTPd. I've installed the ixProFTPD product from the HP Software site to use it as this is what we use on all of our other servers.

I can ftp to this server using NcFTPd without any issue, but when I change over to proftpd and try to connect I receive:
Y:\>ftp src-hpux
Connected to src-hpux.
Connection closed by remote host.

Any idea as to why ?
