Java 1.4 segmentation violation

My Java 1.4.2.16 giving me segmentation violation. It went down every now and then.

Do you have the latest java patches?
Have you talked to the Response Center?

I'd installed this java from tar ball. Patches, i will try on that. I didn't contact response centre yet.
