Jump start

Hi,

I am new to the unix.Can I know full deatils about the jumpstart. What is the need of this . please explain the procedure?

jump start would be the tool used on Sun Solaris to carry out network installations. The equivalent tool on HP-UX is Ignite/UX.

If your question is really about jumpstart you need to visit a Sun forum. (and an admin will probably delete this post)

Hi,

Jumpstart is some thing like ignite UX in HPUX.
Its used to remote installation of Sun Solaris.
The OS image will be located in some other server, and while installing you can specify that server details. So that installation will start from the remote server.

May I know, Are you talking about HPUX OR Solaris? And let me know if want any docs regarding this.

in hp-ux ignite-ux is there instead of jumpstart like solaris.
