K580 install
We have an existing K580(4x9 Gb internal disks; 4x240 mhz CPU; 512 MB memory; 1x1Gb network card) running HP-UX10.20
and want to cleaninstall HP-UX 11i(March 2003 release); Oracle 9i. Prior to cleaninstall we will ignite image existing
set-up.
Does anyone forsee any problems running HP-UX 11i & Oracle 9i on a K580 with the above hardware?
Thanks in advance!

Re: K580 install
None at all from my vantage point (though I can't speak to any Oracle issues).

Re: K580 install
Your K580 is supported for 11.i
http://devrsrc1.external.hp.com/STK/serversupport.html
The only trouble I see is the memory, 512 mb is not very much.
Hope this helps,
Robert-Jan

Re: K580 install
This further depends on what this machine used for? Is this productio/development machine? Databse size, users on machine.

Re: K580 install
512 mg memory will cause problems, more required.

Re: K580 install
Aplogies,we just ran a /opt/ignite/bin/print_manifest & the reported main memory value is 3849 MB(3.8 Gb). We
hope this would be sufficient to run an oracle 9i database, storing approx.800 Gb? Please elaborate on having the
correct hardware/interface cards?
Regards,

Re: K580 install
Secondly memory on hpux 11.i with oracle 9i is a scant resource. We have had to go from 8 GB to 16 GB on our VBOX. If you get close to a swap condition you may be slower than in a swapping condition...
If you have measureware this is a great time to use it...
