K580 Server Down - Booting Issues
One of our K580 server wnet down unexpectedly. We tried to reboot the system using the following commandsat 2 different times:
1st time: BO PRI
2nd time: BO ALT
Both the times the system got stuck at the following boot sequence (ALT disk boot sequence as an example):
Booting....
Boot IO Dependent Code (IDOC) Revision 152
Hard Booted.
ISL Revision
ISL Booting HP-UX (;0)/stand/vmunix
Boot
:disk(10/0.5.0;0)/stand/vmunix
9703424+1765592+106545+ start 0X75808
At this point we see the screen flikering and on the server screen pannel we see the flikering screen as well with some information (FLT WARN 0123)....
Please let me know what we have to do in order to boot the system?
How come the ALT disk is also not coming up?
IS this is a hard disk problem or something else?
Thanks.
Best regards,
Nikee
Lastly Unfortunately all the we tried the serach command SEA.

Re: K580 Server Down - Booting Issues
What items show as bootable in an ISL search?
Can you provide more info on the FLT warnings?
Have you tried booting into single user mode?
bo pri isl

Let us know your results.

Re: K580 Server Down - Booting Issues
It could be something to do with a card loose. But you need to call your hardware vendor to take a look. There is no information that is public on "FLT WARN 0123". As per the code list, Major code "0" in 0123 is not used.
Give your hardware vendor a call. HE may have to replace the PS or the backplane.
Hope this helps.

Re: K580 Server Down - Booting Issues
I think they posted 0123 as an example, not as an actual error code.

Re: K580 Server Down - Booting Issues
We did run the commands as per your recomendation. Still the system is not crossing the above boot sequence.
Thanks,
Nikee

Re: K580 Server Down - Booting Issues
If you have HW support, it's a good time to give them involved. Otherwise, compare the fault codes with those Harry posted. That may provide some insight where you need to look for root cause.

Eric
