kernel parameters

I have to equal kernel parameters on 2 hpux-systems: superdome-partition /1/ and rp8700-partition /2/ in order to run equal db and application for test needs. But system /1/ have 64gb ram and system/2/ have 16gb ram. This reflected to kernel parameters insteed. So what if I change all parameters on system/2/ to be equal to system/1/.
Is there any problem, if these parameters are larger than the normal for system/2/?

Re: kernel parameters

hello
u can do it, but it is possible that ur performance is bad after changing.

look at this link for more:

Re: kernel parameters

Certain kernel parameters do depned on how much memeory you have. so equating them is not a good idea.

Re: kernel parameters

Database vendor recommended kernel parameters mostly depend on the system memory as well. Therefore, check for your database vendors specifications for the parameters.

this is a poor idea b'coz this gives bad performance

Re: kernel parameters

Some cn - some you shouldn't - this is a depends question....basically - go through the kernel paramaters (kmtune) and compare...

Things like dbc_max_pct and dbc_min_pct should be different - unless you hard set the buffer cache with nbuff
