Hi,
I've got a C3600 workstation running Gnome 1.4 and I'm having toruble with the Terminal Emulator as the keyboard won't do a pipe symbol and I get a different character instead (sort of ^e). Now in the back of my mind I know there is a file somewhere you can delete to make it change the keyboard when you next boot, so I would like to try that, also if anyone knows of any other fixes like re-mapping that key or some such then that would be great too.
Many thanks. Steve.

Solution
Steve,
as I don't use gnome, can't really check.
However, I did find:

Similar behaviour, perhaps it will give you some help.

Re: Keyboard / Pipe problem
Hello Steve,
the file to delete is /etc/kdblang.
If this file has been deleted, next time the system boots up, it will ask you for the setting of the connected Keyboard.
This answers at least your question regarding the keyboard language file. I'm not sure it will fix you "pipe" issue.
Best regards,
Herbert
