keyboard setting

I am currently having problems setting up my HP keyboard. After installing HP-UX 11.0 certain keyboard characters are unavailable (~ symbol, # ..etc..).

I asume this is related to the language setting I have chosen (59 - UK_ENGLISH).

Does anyone know how to modify this setting without conducting a full OS re-install?

thanks in advance for your help,

John

Re: keyboard setting

I would need more information to help.

Is it a Workstation keyboard (PS/2) or a console keyboard (HP keyboard) ?

Re: keyboard setting

The following link explains how to get the default US-English keyboard layout:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,11866,0x2ac4cf38d6bdd5118ff10090279cd0f9,00.html

i.e., basically, rm /etc/kbdlang , edit /etc/rc.config.d/LANG and reboot.

Hope this helps.

Re: keyboard setting

Superb,

That worked fine, but prompted me for a new English lang setting rather than automatically searching for the default.

It's now actually displaying what I'm typing.

Thanks for the help

Re: keyboard setting

I have done a quick test on my HP-UX 11.0 workstation:

Simply edit /etc/kbdlang and log out.
When you log in again the new settings take effect.
NB this was on the console terminal.

Hope this helps,

John
