Lan Problem...

Today is a Bad day....
I have a lancard with 4 port...
I execute ioscan -fnClan an I see:

lan 4 12/0/3/0/0/7/0 btlan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A5506B PCI 10/100Base-TX 4 Port
/dev/diag/lan4 /dev/ether4 /dev/lan4
lan 5 12/0/9/0/0/4/0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN PCI Ethernet (10110019)
lan 6 12/0/9/0/0/5/0 btlan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A5506B PCI 10/100Base-TX 4 Port
/dev/diag/lan6 /dev/ether6 /dev/lan6
lan 7 12/0/9/0/0/6/0 btlan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A5506B PCI 10/100Base-TX 4 Port
/dev/diag/lan7 /dev/ether7 /dev/lan7
lan 8 12/0/9/0/0/7/0 btlan CLAIMED INTERFACE HP A5506B PCI 10/100Base-TX 4 Port
/dev/diag/lan8 /dev/ether8 /dev/lan8

In the syslog.log File I have this error message:

vmunix: btlan: SROM read error. btlan_init() failed.

I have install 11i HPUX OS-MC enviroment.

I hope that you can help me

Re: Lan Problem...

hi
i dont think you have the drivers for this card installed. am not sure of the driver but see the CD contents and find out the product for the PCI LAN card driver and install it.

Re: Lan Problem...

I'm confused because "UNCLAIMED" refers to one port of a 4-port card meanwhile the other ports of that same card are CLAIMED.

Re: Lan Problem...

I execute ll /dev/lan* and I not see the special files for the lan....I see:
crw-rw-rw- 1 bin bin 14 0x060000 Apr 7 16:36 /dev/lan6
crw-rw-rw- 1 bin bin 14 0x070000 Apr 7 16:36 /dev/lan7
crw-rw-rw- 1 bin bin 14 0x080000 Apr 7 16:36 /dev/lan8

I try to do insf -H 12/0/9/0/0/4/0 and in the syslog I view this message:

vmunix: wsio_claim init failed isc=0x4e240800 name=btlan

Thanks for all your help...I don't think that is driver probelm because the other ports function corectly.

Re: Lan Problem...

Have you been moving the card around between slots?

Where is your inbuilt lans also?
post the full:

ioscan -fnkC lan

I would suggest removing the driver and reinstalling it again..

Later,
Bill
It works for me (tm)

Re: Lan Problem...

I suspect you may have a fault on htis card, in particular the circuitry for that port.
Get the card changed and see if it is fixed.
