Hi everyone

what is the easiest way to tell if any form of LDAP is installed/ running on a server ?

Hi Robert thats what I did first and it gave me no results but I am told ldap is there and running but I cannot see it. I thought ldap was a product in its own right but is it possible it is included in any other s/w product ?

is it conclusive to say that without these two deamons running and no listed ldap s/w that someone is misinforming me.

Hi the plot deepens now I am told that on this server which has no ldap as far as i can see that it is possible to "bind to the LDAP tree anonymously"

Hi J,

It means there is no HP ldap software active. I know oralce application server has implementations of ldap. And there must be other software products available.

I seem to have made a mistake there is a form of LDAP running

swlist -l fileset | grep -i ldap

OpenMail LDAP server

how can i stop someone anonymously binding to the LDAP tree ?
