LDAP ????
I am suppose to do LDAP setup. We have 6 Hpux Servers (2 7400,2 5430, 2 L).
We have got MC service guard cluster of two nodes and one server at DR site with MSL6030 LIbraries and VA 7410 Storage at both the ends.
I am totally zero in LDAP so i would kindly request you to share information about LDAP (Starting from basic will do) and need some documented procedure to install/setup LDAP.
Also like to know if there are any installation/configuration issues and how to tackle the same.
We do not have DNS/NIS server.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Regards,
Girish.

Re: LDAP ????
You'll then need an LDAP server (or servers). Here you have a choice: -
Netscape Directory Server. This is free to host internal user accounts, but expensive if you want to host customer details.
OpenLDAP. This is not directly supported but does work. You have to do some manual importing of schemas into OpenLDAP before this will work.
Integration with Microsoft Active directory. If you have Windows 2000/2003 servers and you want to integrate, you can use the LDAP and Kerberos services this provides.
A word of warning though, I'm currently working on Active Directory/HPUX integration and there are issues. If you don't need the integration then Netscape Directory is probably the way to go.

Re: LDAP ????
Novell edirectory 8.7 is also a useful LDAP server with a web based management gui called iManager, and HP-UX customers are entitled to a 250,000-user license for Novell eDirectory on HP-UX, free of charge.
There is enough documentation about edirectory on HPUX on Novell's site.
