ldapsearch

Hello all,

I would like to find out if there is a way to perform a Bind using the posixAccount setup on the ldap server. ie. ldapsearch -h -D 'mango' -w -b 'dc=example,dc=com' objectclass=*

Because I know it is possible to do a bind using an active directory domainname\user.
(i.e. ldapsearch -h -D mydomain\mango -w -b 'dc=example,dc=com' objectclass=*

thanks for any help. much appreciated.

Re: ldapsearch

Is your operating system HP-UX? There are two ways for this. I hope you are trying to authenticate using ADS. Have you updated the nis.schema on ADS.

If you use HP-UX, You can use LDAP-UX client to perform any ldapsearch/bind to any LDAP server. LDAP-UX client services is a free product which can be downloaded from http://software.hp.com

Also, you can use PAM_LDAP and NSS_LDAP for this. Little bit more work by using this.

Hope this helps

Re: ldapsearch

Helloo,
I'm authenticating against a unix ldap server. I'm really not using it for authentication for my goal. I'd just like to perform a ldapsearch using the binddn (which is not the cn=... but just by using the uid. :)

Is this possible?
thanks!

Re: ldapsearch

Yes, you can just do a ldapsearch using LDAP-UX client services. This is freely downloadable from http://software.hp.com

Originally, LDAP-UX client services are meant to perform many activities including ldapsearch.

LDAP-UX comes with ldapsearch utility which is same as the standard LDAP command.

Please visit this URL for details and to download LDAP-UX client services:

Hope this helps
