Locating printer model currently assigned

Hi, I'm running HP-UX 10.2 and HP-UX 11i v2 on two separate systems (in the process of migrating to the newer system). I have two serial printer that will use digi terminal server TS8/16 with RealPort. I would like to use the same LP MODEL currently assigned on the old system for the two printers on the new system but can't seem to find out how to determine the model assigned. Is there a way to identify the printer model assigned to any printer on an HP-UX system?

Re: Locating printer model currently assigned

At one level your question has no meaning because the only thing that can be known for certain is the interface file as it exists now. The interface file may be highly modified from it's original "model" state --- and indeed it could have been built purely from scratch.

In any event, cd to /var/spool/lp/interface. The interface file for queue myprinter will be named "myprinter". In the case of JetDirect printer there is usually a secondary interface file (again named "myprinter") in the model.orig directory located just below /var/spool/lp/interface.

All you really have to do is add a printer using literally any interface/model script you like and then copy your "myprinter" scripts over the default model scripts and there you are.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Locating printer model currently assigned

I apologize for the confusion and I'm glad you were able to understand my question.

Copying the printer's interface file from one system to the other was what I was looking for but it did not resolve my bigger problem (ctrl-L is not being interpreted as page breaks and the whole print alignment not working). I will go back to Digi support to see if they can offer some advice otherwise I'll be back.

Thanks again,
