Looking for TPC data

Hi,
We are trying to get some TPC data for comparing

HP 9000 N Class 4000 with 2 way PA 8500 360 MHz CPUs with Compaq Proliant 8500 @550 MHz.

I have looked high and low on the web at hp.com, google.com, tpc.org etc.

Any reallife experiences are also appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Parag

Re: Looking for TPC data

The TPC values probably won't be found since the pA8500 chip has been around so long and companies would rather post speeds of their latest processors.

As far as real world experience: it all depends on what kind of applications you intend to run ... as you can see on the www.tpc.org site, some are better than others depending on the size of the dB, or expected number of users ... all relative ...

Good Luck!

Re: Looking for TPC data

You aren't going to get anything close because most benchmark results max out the server to it's fullest potential, unless of course it's M$ comparing their products to linux.

Unless you are comparing linux (on the compaq) to hpux then you aren't getting apples to apples, it's more like apples to rocks.

Benchmark results from anyone other than my own benchmarks using real world scenarios, in my opinion, are useless. Each environment is different in the applications in use, the number of users, how the users work, when they work (if they do), processing schedules, releases, ..... What does a TPC-c or a TPM really mean? Not much, unless you are using the benchmark software to process your data.
