is there anyway to list printer queues on a remote server?

Hi,

the only command you have to run is:

lpstat ( line printer status ) -t (total information)

This will show you all that you need.

But i dont have any shell access to the remote system. and lpstat only shows my local printerqueues. rlpstat shows remote queues if the printer is defined on the local system.

Hi

If you do not have shell access then declare all of the printers on 1 machine as remote to the others and use rlpstat.

Otherwise you need remsh.


If they are all jetdirect cards you can use
hpnpadmin and interrogate the cards for some data.

webjetadmin would have helped in this as well for network printers.

should be able to list the remote queues with telnet or netcat to the remote host and port 515 somehow... its a litle catch 22 otherwize.. cos i cant add a remote printer if i dont know the remote quename. and i cant list the que because i havent added the printer. =/

1)What is your local machine. Model/OS

2)What are the remote systems.

3)Are the printers network or local on the remote machines.
