check /etc/shutdown.log
check /var/tombstones/
Check GSP logs (if you have a N class or Lclass or the more advanced)
Press CTRL+B
Login to GSP
TYPE SL (show logs)
type E (for errors)
type N (not to setup filtering)

STM logs all the errors in a binary format. There is a utility in stm called logtool which is used to convert this into a ascii format. You can use this utility to see the log files. you can invoke stm and then in the menu go to logtool and have to specify the raw file to get the output on the screen.
