Mail Queue Deferred

I recently purchased an L2000 server with Hpux11.11. The problem I am having is with mail transfer. I have a Groupwise mail server and would like email sent on the hp machine to be automatically sent to the Groupwise server. I have already made the following changes:

/etc/mail/aliases
added
mea : mark.allen@tt-group.com
/etc/mail/sendmail.cf
added
# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DSTT_MAIL

TT_MAIL is the name of the Groupwise server in the hosts file.

Any mail sent to mea stays in the mailq with the following message:

QAA05567 3623 Tue May 18 16:06 mea (host map: lookup (tt-group.com): deferred) mark.allen@tt-group.com

I have another HP9000 D250 machine with practically the same setup and it works. I'm sure it's a problem with the sendfile.cf file but at this point I don't know what to do.

Thanks

Re: Mail Queue Deferred

Looks like your new server is not able to resolve address of the groupwise server.

Try ..
nslookup TT_MAIL.it should come up with ip-adress and the way it resolved it.
Also check resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf file in /etc dir

resolv.conf must have your name server and domain name infomration , get idea from your other D250 server

-USA..
Good Luck..

Re: Mail Queue Deferred

I created the nsswitch.conf file and it worked... thanks!

Be aware that the underscore character is not legal in a FQDN. Although they tend to work, they can cause mysterious problems.
