Re: Mail
U can cinfigure sendmail for this . Do the following steps.
First get the SMTP relay host name and IP Address.(abcd_relay 128.9.9.30)
For sendmail to be activated to send mail to exchange server.
a)put relay hostname to DS on sendmail.cf in /etc/mail directory (eg : DSabcd_relay ).
b)Create nsswitch.conf in /etc by copying nsswitch.file as nsswitch.conf. (IF DNS is not enabled on ur HP server).
c)Add relay host IP entry to /etc/hosts file. (IP of abcd_relay)
d)Stop and start sendmail dameon again
U can test it by
$cat /etc/hosts |mailx -m -s "test mail" user_id
Hope this will help u
Regards
Joe.

Re: Mail
Thanks for the reply, but I am still confused as to what to put in the sendmail.cf file.
I have a exchange server ie "exch_name" with IP address "10.#.#.#". How does this appear in the sendmail.cf file?
DS.... or ......DS

Re: Mail
cd /etc/mail
open the file sendmail.cf in vi or any other editor
search for smart relay hosts or DS in the starting of the line. Then enter like
DSexch_name
save the file.
In my pervious reply I have given the example as abcd_relay as relay host server.
Regards
Joe.

Re: Mail
Hi,
vi the sendmail file in etc/mail dir
cd /etc/mail
vi sendmail.cf
search for DS string by ^DS
put the name (Full qualified name) of your exchange server infront of the DS like this
DS
save and quit the sendmail.cf file
restart the sendmail daemon
Also have a look in to your resolv.conf and nsswitch.conf file for DNS configuration
Goodluck,
-USA..
