mailx problem

I am sending emails from unix using the mailx command. 95% of the emails go thru. In the mail.log I see this message: May 14 11:31:44 rp7410 sendmail[9807]: LAA09807: Authentication-Warning: rp7410.
tawinc.com: jhagstro set sender to jhagstro@tawinc.com using -r
What does the authentication waring mean?
This is an RP7410 running HPUX 11.00. I am creating the mailx command in programming language called PROGRESS, version 9. It happens when I also do it from the command line.

This is the command from the unix prompt: mailx -s "TEST EMAIL" -r jhagstro@tawinc.com jeff.hagstrom@tawinc.com.com < x.tx

Re: mailx problem

The -r forces the usage of certain sender for the mail message. You get a warning because the message in this way can be spoofed.

Re: mailx problem

mailx is just calling sendmail.

The Authentication-Warning can be ignored, or just add the user as a 'trusted'
user to sendmail (put all such addresses in a
sendmail.ct file or put them directly in the sendmail.cf file).

# this is equivalent to setting class "t"
Ft/etc/sendmail.ct
Troot
Tdaemon
Tuucp
Tjhagstro

It could also be resolved by add the DM macro:

DMtawinc.com

Re: mailx problem

Shalom,

The receiving server requires authentication to send it mail. Comply or deal with the reject. I'd say the mail is going some place it should not go.
