Re: make_net_recovery

no it is not class dependent, which means yes you can create an ingite server to build servers of different breeds from the same "source".

Re: make_net_recovery

Hi Dave,

Yes you can install to different classes of servers from the same source.

Take a look at the document(s) particularly the
release notes in /opt/ignite/share/docs and the
ignite document from the below link.

Re: make_net_recovery

Hi,

Try the ignite UX FAQ,

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/faq.html

Hope this helps.

Re: make_net_recovery

Hi Dave,

During migrating hp-ux 10.20 to 11.0, I asked HP support center if I'm able to build my 40 hp-ux servers with only one ignite ?

The response was yes since they are within the same class server. But since I have three classes ( D, K and L ), I produced one ignite by class and then clone these servers.

Conclusion :

Ignite-UX is class DEPENDENT.
respects for previous replies.

Re: make_net_recovery

Hi again Dave,

The problem is not in Ignite-ux, because it only create the lif area on tape followed by the entire vg00 files.

And these vg00 files are different from one class to another, so you find

1. Files from K class on L class ( and I suppose they will not do what they are supposed to do correctly since the architecture is not the same ).

2. You wouldn't find files on class L which you are supposed to find and this will result of unpredictable behaviour !!!

So Ignite-UX copies what it found.

If what it found is different then what it restaure will be diffent and vise-versa.
