make_recovery 743 vs 744 processor

Hardware is 743 processor on a vme, running HP-UX 10.20, with a Seagate DAT drive. I can do a make_recovery with success, and restore that recovery to the same machine.

I put in a 744/132 and can successfully do a make_recovery, however, when I attempt to restore, I get a IPL error -5.

What happened in-between the 743 and 744? I can find no patches or any related info.

A succesful make_recovery/restore can be done if I replace the Seagate with an HP DAT drive, however, a large purchase was made of the Seagates, due to the success of Seagates in the 743's.

I don't know the detail. But you can try to install the lastest version of Ignite.
I ever met such situation in N4000.
