Make_recovery errror

Hi ,

I had installed ignite-ux on a D210 server runnig on HP-UX 10.20. I ran the following command:
- make_recovery -A -v -d /dev/rmt/0m.

lifinit: can not create /usr/lib/ignite_bootlif
WARNING: LIF volume for bakup cannot be created.

The rest of the job went fine.
But is the tape bootable ?

Thanx in advance

Cheers,
Ramesh

Re: Make_recovery errror

Try the latest version of Ignite-UX for your server:

http://software.hp.com/products/IUX/

This looks like a bug, and I doubt the tape is bootable.

Re: Make_recovery errror

Do you have enough space on your filesystem (/usr)

Thanks

Re: Make_recovery errror

Hi,

The usr dir is OK.
The /usr/lib/ignite_bottlif is about 770KB.
I still have about 6MB in the /usr dir.

The OS on the server has been hardened and the /usr is mounted Read Only.
So it could be the RO mount option that has caused the failure to create the file.

Thanx

Cheers

Re: Make_recovery errror

Hi Ramesh,

Well, yea...if you can't write to /usr you're going to get an error.

Remount /usr as RW (will have to go to single-user to do so) & then retry the make_recovery.

And no, it won't be bootable at all. Without a LIF, nothing is bootable.

Rgds,
Jeff
