Re: Mandatory binding

Are you seeing the same errors in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log ? How often ?

Are HP's diagnostic S/W installed on the server by any chance : Is this HP-UX 11.xx ?

If so install patches [PHSS_21427] and [PHKL_21420]

Symptoms:
PHKL_21420:
( SR: 8606108263 CHART: JAGab78658 )
When running the STM CPU information module, a similar
message to the one below is logged into
/etc/adm/syslog/syslog.log:

mpc_bindlwp: Migrating process 3269 from processor 30 to
processor 0!
mpc_bindlwp: Overriding conflicting mandatory binding!

If not relevant any other details ?

Re: Mandatory binding

Moving procees from proc#3 to proc#0 can be for various reasons. Are you using any load balancing? Does syslog.log gives any error messages about cpu#3. I guess you are running 11.X. You may have to run some diagnostics on cpu#3, there may be some problem with it. V class machine automatically deactivate processors or memory is there is a problem. Suggest ask HPCE to have a look at the server.

Re: Mandatory binding

I'd install the patches first, then re-run dmesg .... does the problem persist ?

Re: Mandatory binding

If you got stm loaded on the system, invoke it and look at the processors. If there is a problem, you will see the messages on your screen.

Re: Mandatory binding

Installing patch PHKL_21420 should solve your problem. We too get the same errors. Make sure that patch PHKL_18543 is installed before you install PHKL_21420. Has there been a SG/Cluster switch recently.
