Max LV
Would it be possible to exceed the maximum number of logical volumes (Max LV) which is 255. I'm using HP-UX 11 and HP-UX 11.11. Is there a way if I need more than the maximum defined? Appreciate your help on this.

Re: Max LV
Simply answer is no:
As You know:
VGCREATE (1M)
-l max_lv Set the maximum number of logical volumes
that the volume group is allowed to contain.
The default value for max_lv is 255. The maximum
number of logical volumes can be a value in the
range 1 to 255.
-p max_pv Set the maximum number of physical volumes
that the volume group is allowed to contain.
The default value for max_pv is 16. The
maximum number of physical volumes can be a
value in the range 1 to 255.

Re: Max LV
Hi,
Why would anyone want to create more than 255 LVs in a VG?
For ease of maintenance, it would be better to group LVs up into logically separated VGs.
In fact, why create so many LVs in the first place? Each created LV has its overhead.
Hope this helps. Regards.
