max_thread_count for Itanium server

Anyone knows if HP have a recommendation for setting the Kernel parameter max_thread_count on an Itanium box? Thx in advance

Re: max_thread_count for Itanium server

Shalom Trojan36,

The answer as always is, it depends (apologies to A. Clay).

It depends on what you are going to do with the server.

It depends on which of the three released Itanium Operating Systems you install.

It depends on what appications you intend to run.

Ask a specific question, perhaps get a more useful answer.

Re: max_thread_count for Itanium server

As SEP infomred, the answer is it depends. Depdning upon what apps/prgrams you use, it it difficult to say about it.

The better way would be monitoring it with kcusage and kcalarm and setting it accordingly.

The server that we have is running oracle and controlm and has setting of 2049 suffices. We generally monitor most the parameters usage with kcusage -h "parameter". This helps to set a reasonable value.
