Maximum partition size

Maximum partition size

Hi,

I have an A500 server with a SC10 JBOD.
The SC10 can hold 10 disks on 2 controllers.
We currently have 5 18G disks, but want to purchase 5 more. We have to option of purchasing 5 32G disks which we are told will work on this. The only limitations should be on the software side.

Does anyone know of any restrictions on this?
The disks will be seen as 1 single partition, controlled by IRM.

Re: Maximum partition size

Should have added the following:

OS: HP-UX 11i
IRM 2.25

Re: Maximum partition size

Alan,

I'm not familiar with IRM so can't comment on that but I can confirm that you can mix different size disks in one controller. I can also offer the opinion that LVM would accept these just fine so I would hope IRM would as well.

Re: Maximum partition size

Sorry, I meant to say in one enclosure (not controller).

Re: Maximum partition size

Thanks Pete,
I see now that I need only to check how to do this with IRM if possable. I need to see the new disks a a different device the the current ones, a second RAID array in effect.

Thanks Paula,
I had concidered this, and our current vg can't be extended, this is why I need the new disks to be seen as a seperate device to the current disks so I can create a new vg for this device.
